What was life like before you met Jesus?

Before I came to Christ there wasn’t a lot of meaning to much of anything. Many things were superficial I thought I was doing things right from a worldly standpoint. If I had a job, had good and some ok grades, and had friends and family, I was ok. I was blinded by the chaos and sin that went on in my life around that. Then in the year 2020, my whole world went upside down. I became ill and had to step away from a lot of things. 2020 was a huge pause. When I reflected and began looking in the mirror I saw a lot I didn’t want to see. Though 2020 is one of the toughest years I’ve lived, it has been a huge blessing. I began to seek for God and a deeper meaning and purpose. It was the start of a journey. Christ began to redirect my life. It was 2022 when I truly found Jesus and wanted to know him. That is when I found Veritas to be a home.

How did you meet Jesus?

Psalm 119:24 says, “Your testimonies are my delight, they are my counselors.” God used the testimonies of others to bring me to Christ. To see and hear the work Jesus continues to do through people is the greatest encouragement in my life, the moment I heard a once atheist's testimony in a small church in Iowa and how his life changed was the moment I said ok this is it, I want to know Jesus. It was a divine appointment set by God after noticing my aunt hadn't been to church in awhile. She and my uncle, who is no longer with us, have played a huge role in what it looks like to have faith, I'm incredibly grateful for them! I had the privilege of working at a wellness center in FL where I didn’t fully realize at the time I was being discipled. The greatest joy of most of my days working there was the opportunity to sit down with the people that came in and listen to their story. They had the most incredible stories. Though some were sick, I saw those with faith had a light and saw how quickly their health improved. I didn’t always have the words or the questions to ask, at the time though, the seeds were planted. One day, there was one woman who sat down with me and told me the story of Hannah from the Bible she spoke with tears in her eyes. I was so moved I had them too. That day stirred up the desire to want to read the Bible.

After being saved by Jesus, what is your life like now?

There are many scriptures that speak to my heart and more to come! “The wind blows where it wishes and you hear its sound so is with everyone who is born of the spirit.” (John 3:8) His providence by his spirit is more tangible and I’m thankful for the peace he provides. “Nevertheless do not rejoice in this that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.” (Luke 10:20) Jesus is the way to eternal life. Thank you, Jesus!
