Kid's Ministry Classroom Coordinator

We want to give you an honest picture of this role—what it looks like week to week, what makes it meaningful, and what makes it challenging. We believe clarity up front helps you decide if this is a great fit for how God has wired you and what you’re looking for in a ministry role.

🌟 The Highlights

  • You make Sunday mornings possible. Your work during the week ensures that every classroom is clean, stocked, organized, and ready for kids to experience the gospel. You're the one making sure our volunteers walk into a space that’s fully prepped and peaceful.
  • You help bring lessons to life. From prepping crafts to cutting supplies to creating engaging activities, you’ll support our teaching team by helping them turn curriculum into something tangible, creative, and fun for kids.
  • You help make it better. Your role during the week is behind the scenes, making Sundays excellent. Your role on a Sunday is to pop into rooms, support volunteers, and look at everything — from how volunteers are operating to the way the environment looks — with a make-it-better mindset.
  • You get to use creativity and structure at the same time. You’ll build simple, repeatable systems—but also use your creative gifts to dream up fresh ways to engage young learners with biblical truth.

⚠️ The Hard Stuff

  • Sunday doesn’t wait. If something doesn’t get prepped during the week, teachers and volunteers feel it on Sunday. This role requires consistency, planning ahead, and a high commitment to follow-through.
  • It’s detail-heavy. There are a lot of moving pieces—lesson plans, room supplies, handouts, crafts, tech, and more. You’ll need to be good at managing checklists and keeping everything in order.
  • There’s a physical component. This role involves stocking bins, carrying supplies, bending, organizing, and sometimes being on your feet for long stretches. It’s active work—and a bit of a workout.

🔧 The Setup

  • Why is this role needed? As our kid's ministry grows, there’s more to prepare each week than a single staff person can manage alone. This role allows our team to focus on volunteers and families, while you ensure the classrooms stay organized and ready.
  • Onboarding support: You’ll be trained by the Family Ministry Pastor and given clear systems and templates to follow. You’ll also be supported as you learn the rhythms of curriculum planning and Sunday setup.
  • Key collaborators: Family Ministry Pastor, volunteers, and other Family Ministry staff.
  • Team structure: You’re part of the Veritas Kids team and report directly to the Family Ministry Pastor. You’ll work closely with classroom volunteers and the Kids Volunteer Coordinator..

🧭 Environment & Culture

  • Work hours: Part-time (12-15 hours/week). Most work is completed Sunday, Monday, and one other day a week if needed.
  • Workspace: You’ll work primarily in the kids ministry area and classrooms at the church. Some work (like printing curriculum or prepping crafts) can be done off-site with approval..
  • Culture quirks:
  • We’re team-driven and gospel-centered.
  • No one is too “big” for small tasks—we all pitch in where needed.
  • We value both people and process: thoughtful systems create space for meaningful ministry.
  • Ministry speed ramps up toward weekends and events—you’ll need to match that pace when it comes.

🧨 If You’re Not a Fit…

This role isn’t for you if:

  • You struggle to stay organized or follow a weekly routine.
  • You don’t enjoy repetitive tasks like sorting, stocking, and prepping.
  • You don’t feel comfortable managing physical supplies and spaces.
  • You find it hard to work independently or stick to a checklist.

✅ If You’re a Fit…

This could be a perfect fit if:

  • You love being the person behind the scenes who makes ministry happen.
  • You enjoy thinking creatively, organizing, and keeping things orderly.
  • You take joy in seeing kids engage with something you helped create.
  • You’re dependable, creative, and detail-oriented.
  • You’ve got a label maker and aren’t afraid to use it.
