We’re kicking back at the beach for Lake Day—a chill afternoon for students entering 7th grade through graduated seniors to hang out, swim, and connect with friends from both Veritas Cedar Rapids and Veritas Urbana.
We’ll meet at the beach area at Palo Lake (Pleasant Creek State Recreation Area) at 2:00 PM and wrap up by 4:00 PM. Students should arrange their own transportation, and a downloadable map is provided to help you find the right spot.
This is a low-key hangout with no structured games or planned activities—just time to enjoy the outdoors. Students are welcome to swim, play spike ball on the beach, or just relax in the sun. You’re also welcome to bring a snack, but Veritas will not provide food.
Important Info for Parents:
• There is no lifeguard on duty. Swimming is “at your own risk.”
• Veritas youth staff will be present but will not supervise water activities.
• Students do not have to swim—they can stay on the beach and hang out.
• Parents are welcome to attend if they’d like to supervise or just hang out personally.
• Life jackets are optional, and students may bring kayaks if their parents are there to supervise.
What to Bring:
• Beach towel
• Snacks and water (if desired)
• Boys: Swim shorts that are an appropriate length and not tight-fitting
• Girls: Please cover the abdomen, bottom, and chest
• Sunscreen is a great idea, too
