James Bible Study

About this Event

Faith without works is dead — so what does a living faith actually look like? In this 11-week Sunday morning study through the book of James, we will read slowly and in community. We'll observe, question, and apply this intensely practical letter together, letting the gospel produce a faith that shows up in our trials, our words, and our relationships. Bring your Bible and a friend, or come alone and make some new ones.

What to Expect:

  • Preparation at home. Each week you'll read a chunk of Scripture on your own, observe carefully, and bring your questions with you. Class time assumes that work is done — it's what makes the rest possible.

  • Time to discuss what you found. We spend time at tables sharing observations and the questions your time in the Word raised, then share those themes and questions as a large group to address what you're discovering in God’s Word.

  • Focused teaching. We will address the core concepts and the difficult passages — the knots you can't untie on your own — rather than a general overview or lecture time.

  • Extended application with others. The heart of the class: at tables you'll work through what the passage calls us to believe, love, and do; how the gospel supplies both reason and power to obey; what obedience looks like this week; praying the text back to God together; and holding one another accountable. We close with the big idea, a challenge, and next week's passage.
