Before Jesus Changed My Life

I never grew up in a Christian household or talked about God or Jesus outside of funerals, so it always made me feel weary. I used wrestling, lifting, and the wrong crowds to form some kind of way to cope with the anxiety, depression, and anger I held within me. I tried many times to reach out to those around me but never found solid answers.

How Jesus Changed My Life

I started attending Bible studies as a sophomore in college almost two years ago, but still didn't fully put my faith in Jesus. Once I transferred to Coe, I lost touch with my old Bible study, and it wasn't until the second semester that I started attending Salt and felt God's love again. During the summer, God put Barron in my path, and he just reached out and prayed with me several times before we met to discuss some of the things I was dealing with at the time. He offered me a spot as a huddle leader at FCA Pella, which I took. During that time, I felt God work not just in the campers but through me. In every Bible study, I felt the Holy Spirit fill me and give me the words to say. God put me in paths of people I never thought I would meet, and on that Wednesday night I gave my Life to Jesus and laid at the foot of the cross. I know and believe what is written in John 3:16, "For God so loved the world that He gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." God sent his Son, Jesus Christ, to live with us and live a sinless life. He paid the ultimate debt by dying on the cross so that we may be free of our bondage to sin.

My Life After Jesus Saved Me

Since camp, I have seen life far differently. I have begun openly talking about God and his works; I connected deeply in faith with my roommate, and we are starting a Bible study on the wrestling team to spread the Word. I have been incredibly blessed to know that with my faith, anything is possible. Glorifying God daily in everything I do has made life so much easier.
