Before Jesus Changed My Life

I grew up in a Christian household knowing and learning about God and believing in him from a young age but never had a close relationship with Him. My life was very self-centered, relying on my own strength and putting my identity in my accomplishments, myself, and the approval from others. I felt like I had to always be in control of life and would get mad at God when my plans didn't work out.

How Jesus Changed My Life

These past couple of years have been filled with a lot of disappointments, family problems, and life spiraling out of my control. Looking back, I can see how God was using those rough times to show me my sinful desire to be the one in control and my lack of trust and faith in Him and His plans for my life. He offers unconditional love that He gives freely to me. (Eph 1:4-5, 2:4-6) 

I broke down and cried while praying for repentance and for Christ to change my heart and desires and just letting go of trying to be the one in control and putting my trust in Him. (Ps 5:11-12)

My Life After Jesus Saved Me

The difference is I want a close intimate relationship with God. I feel free in knowing that there is peace in surrendering my life to Christ and allowing Him to have control. My life is different now in that I want to walk in a Godly-centered life with my actions and intentions being pleasing to God. To put away my old self-centerness and take on a new self that would be a reflection of Christ. (1 John 2:15-17)

I have assurance of eternal life because I have repented of my sin and placed my faith in Jesus Christ.
