Before Jesus Changed My Life

Despite growing up in the church, I did not understand the good news of the gospel for the first nineteen years of my life. I was searching for love from relationships, reputation, promiscuity, drinking, witchcraft, sexual immorality, etc.

How Jesus Changed My Life

My first encounter with the Holy Spirit was on my bedroom floor when I was 15. But I still did not understand the gospel, and I was not in full repentance for him to change my life. I got baptized at 16 and felt nothing. After my baptism, I got sleep paralysis like none other in my life. A demon came to scream at me, telling me to return to the things Jesus had set me free from. A second voice came, and she said, "it's okay, go to sleep now" and I slept. That year I got my first round of seasonal depression and attempted suicide by overdose in December. I stopped talking to God after that. I ran to the world and its empty promises, and eventually ended up in a worldly relationship for two years. However, this past summer, God, in all his goodness, took me out of that relationship. My friend shared the gospel with me, and for the first time, it all clicked. I don't need to work for salvation. It's a gift, that's why Jesus came and died for me!

My Life After Jesus Saved Me

I am now able to walk in freedom from so many idols that I was enslaved to. Jesus changed my life; he gave me a new heart. I don't even recognize myself from a year ago, and all the glory is God's. He has placed me on SALT leadership and blessed me with a community that points me back to Jesus. He's begun to heal my family. He has been so faithful in my unfaithfulness. Jesus paid the price of my sins so that I could be reconciled back to him.
