Before Jesus Changed My Life

My life before Jesus was filled with a lot of anger, resentment, shame, and guilt. I constantly found myself in sinful situations, some of which have impacted my life forever. I wish I could say I saw the signs, but now looking back, I never understood them or why I was being shown this path, causing me to turn to alcohol and social interactions to drown out the noise because things were not the way that I wanted them to be or because something bad happened. I didn’t know how to fix it without understanding that I am not made to be the one to fix it. Alcohol and distractions don’t just make the problem go away. They made it worse. God is the only one who can truly fix any situation and pave the path that should be followed.

How Jesus Changed My Life

I have been on the verge for a few years of my life, telling myself this is God's plan and Jesus is watching over me. However, I was recently in a very dark place that led to some very unfortunate events in my life, and in light of these circumstances, God woke me up. At my lowest point, Jesus was protecting me. God has since been showing me the path to an overall better life. I have often thought about  Proverbs 3:5, which says “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.” I have learned that I can depend on God, and I know that he has a plan. He made this plan for me, and I can trust in his timing. Psalm 37:4 says “Take delight in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart”. Once I fully committed my life to Jesus I no longer constantly felt that I was trying to fill this void inside of me with everyone around me that never felt satisfied.

My Life After Jesus Saved Me

Since Jesus has saved me, it has been a little bit of a tough road. I am still dealing with the consequences of my past actions however, it has already started to shine light on sobriety. The connections and people who have surrounded me, people I didn’t even know wanted to be around, and the overall support I’ve received confirm that Jesus has taken over my life. I have finally broken the chains of Satan’s hold over me, and God has shown me the light of his plan moving forward.
