Before Jesus Changed My Life

Before Jesus changed my life, I lived an unhappy life full of sin. I was going out to parties every weekend because I felt so alone in life, but the parties and drinking never seemed to fill that hole. I still felt empty and unfulfilled. I also surrounded myself with friends who constantly made me feel like I wanted enough. They encouraged me to do things like drink and talk to a lot of boys because that's what they did. I believed them, but I quickly entered a severely depressed state, and it felt like no matter what I did, I was never happy.

How Jesus Changed My Life

When I was at my lowest point, before I started going to church, I felt a call to start reading a Bible a friend had given to me. I started learning more about God and what it meant to be a Christian. From then on, I slowly started looking into the Bible more. A few months later, I was still somewhat lost and didn't know how to pursue my faith. It wasn't until a friend of mine invited me to go to church with her that I really started to bloom. After that first Sunday morning, I felt such a strong pull to follow God, and I haven't looked back. I realized it doesn’t matter what I’ve done in the past and that I had been denying God my whole life. God has changed my life.

The gospel tells about the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. It has taught me about how Jesus died for my sins and that I have been born again through him. This is such an inspiration to go out and share the gospel to all those around me. The gospel is also God's way of teaching us how to be obedient and how we can make disciples to all those around us. The gospel is the voice of God, 2 Timothy 3:16-17 tells us, "All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." Not only do we use the gospel to learn more ourselves, but we also use the gospel to help teach others and plant the seed of the Lord in them.

My Life After Jesus Saved Me

Now that I have been saved by Jesus, everything is much, much different, but in the best possible way. When God saved me, I didn't want those things that didn’t satisfy anymore, and for once in my life I was happy and fulfilled even when things weren't "perfect." My life feels fuller. God has given me a community through Salt that has helped me grow.

Now, when I get anxious and sad, I don't first turn to drinking, I turn to my Bible and prayer. I have met so many amazing people through the Lord, but I've also met others who are incredibly broken. I have been able to help others in their time of need and watch the seed of faith grow in them. My faith in Jesus has helped me to grow so much as a person, and before, when I had uncertainties, I now know that he has me in his hands. My life now isn't perfect, but it's not meant to be, and I have God with me through every step of the way.
