Before Jesus Changed My Life
Several years ago, I went through a divorce. The last few years of the marriage and the years that followed were rough. I was looking to heal the hurt and move on, but in all the wrong ways. Instead of looking towards God, I pursued worldly, instant gratification. I was very, very unhappy.
How Jesus Changed My Life
I decided that being closer to my family would be helpful, so I moved back to Iowa about 3 years ago. My sister-in-law invited me to go with them to Veritas one weekend. Then I went back the next weekend. And the next. And the next. I began finding joy and peace in God rather than in the worldly places I had been looking. I now believe that through Jesus, God has made a way for us to be forgiven of their sins. We were made by God, for God, but because of sin, we have been living for ourselves. Jesus died the death we deserve and rose again so that we may have forgiveness and eternal life. Romans 5:8- "But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." The Gospel, which simply means the good news, shows us how amazing God is and that he deserves our worship.
My Life After Jesus Saved Me
After church each week, I have lunch with my family. We often talk about the message we heard, readings, and ways God has blessed us. Talking about Him with my family has become something I look forward to. Talking about God is something that I am becoming more and more passionate about. About a year and a half ago, I joined a connection group, and through that group, I have been continuing to grow both my love for and my knowledge of God. 1 Corinthians 3:11 says, "For no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ." I know that I have eternal life through Jesus because of God's Word. Jesus paid the price for us, and through Him, we have been given eternal life. God's Word and promise to us is how we know.
