Before Jesus Changed My Life
Growing up, I was a part of a Christian household. I went to church every Sunday, church group on Wednesdays, and was a part of a Lutheran private school all the way through middle school. My relationship with Jesus was in a good place, but I did not have strong habits of reading my Bible and communicating with Him outside of nightly prayers. This trend continued into high school, college, and my adult life, where I sought validation and purpose through career and status.
How Jesus Changed My Life
While in middle school, I had confessed my faith in the Lord, but what felt like a separation as I got older. Jesus brought me back to him through my marriage and welcoming a child into the world. Both really taught me so much and helped me understand the loving relationship of a father with his kids and what that love is like. This understanding has pulled me to be a better believer and to make better habits with my devotion. Also, I can Shepherd and lead my family the way I've been called to. Becoming a father showed me something I'd missed for years. I would do anything for my daughter. And Scripture says God did — He gave His own Son for us. Romans 6:23 puts it plainly: our sin earns death, but God's gift is eternal life through Jesus Christ. Jesus took the death I deserved on the cross and walked out of the tomb alive. My daughter can't do a thing to make me love her more, and I can't do a thing to make God love me more. He already proved it. All I had to do was turn from my sin and trust Him
My Life After Jesus Saved Me
My life is forever different because of God's love for me. My love for my daughter made it clear just how much more God loves me, and that love is far greater than I can even understand. He gives me great joy, and my daughter is a constant reminder to me of that. And to know that, even though I don't deserve it, Jesus's death on the cross for me is all that I need to have eternal life with him and our Father in Heaven.
