Before Jesus Changed My Life
I still struggle with sin. I have struggled in the past with material greed, anger, lust, immaturity around losing in competition or sports, and caring too much about worldly desires like financial success. No matter how much I personally achieve or strive for, there's still an emptiness of joy when it comes to those things, and a feeling that there was never enough, or that there was always something next to achieve or pursue. I let anger and disappointment from failing in sporting events drastically impact my life.
How Jesus Changed My Life
Through the life of Jesus Christ in the gospel and through worship and prayer, I have realized that those empty desires will never bring joy, and that God is the real prize worth pursuing. I am never going to arrive, be perfect, or be free of sin, but I have a perfect Savior who paid the debt of my sin. It's through God's grace and faith in Jesus Christ that I can see past those sins and realize that true joy lies in knowing I have a Savior worth knowing, worshiping, and loving.
My Life After Jesus Saved Me
I know now that my hopes, desires, and direction for my life and the life of my family is not through my work, deeds, or accomplishments. The direction of my life needs to continue to be centered on Christ and his accomplishments, glorifying and worshiping Him to the best of my ability, and leading my family in the way God desires. Although I will still sin, I am no longer a slave and dead in that sin but alive through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. I turn to him through prayer, worship, reading, and relationships with other believers and individuals in the church. I know I have eternal life through Jesus Christ because I accept and celebrate the grace given to me through his life, death, and resurrection. Thank you God for Jesus.
