Before Jesus Changed My Life
Before Jesus changed my life, I thought I could handle everything on my own and get through anything by myself because I was enough. When I started to notice I was not enough, I turned to seeking instant gratification, whether that meant eating too much because it brought me joy or going out on a Saturday night to forget my troubles. I leaned on things that I very much should not have, such as alcohol or sex, and they never brought me anything but a little bit of instant gratification and then trouble and regret. I started to realize my inability to live life without God when my parents began to experience marital strife with each other. I knew my parents had been having trouble with each other but thought that they would get through it. However, when they actually split up, it hit me harder than anything else ever had. I remember just wanting to go and abuse alcohol to get my mind off of it, and it did nothing but make it worse.
How Jesus Changed My Life
Jesus changed my life by showing me that I can lean on my faith to get through life. Jesus showed me that I am not alone in this fight against my sins and that I can look to God for guidance rather than to any other source of instant gratification. I remember vividly reading through the gospels during this tough time in my life and thinking about how all of those people thought that they could not be helped. But rather than hanging them out to dry, God sent his Son's disciples to help save these people. He sent them to tell them of the kingdom of God, that if they would repent, be baptized, and accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior, they could be saved and lean on Christ. I thought to myself, if Christ can help these people out, he can definitely do wonders for me. I then began to believe in a perfect, all-knowing God, which has led me to where I am today.
My Life After Jesus Saved Me
In believing that we have a perfect and all-knowing God, I have come to realize that everything happens for a reason. Every bump in the road and every unexpected turn can lead me somewhere where I can help someone else or see Christ at work in another person’s life. I have watched friends leave behind lives centered around partying and be completely changed after submitting their lives to Christ, and I have seen how much better and more meaningful their lives have become. I have also realized that even though I have made mistakes, including having sex outside of marriage and abusing alcohol, those experiences can still be used for good. “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.” - 2 Corinthians 1:3-4. Being able to say that, through Christ, I overcame those things and changed my life may help someone else who is struggling with the same things. One of the biggest ways I try to live differently now is by seeking to glorify God through my actions and by serving others. I try to make decisions consistent with Christ’s teachings, and I try to serve people in a way that allows them to see Christ reflected in my life and, hopefully, encourages them to follow him as well. “Set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.” - 1 Timothy 4:12. I believe that I have eternal life through Christ because I have seen the good He has done in my life and in the lives of others, and those experiences have strengthened my belief that He is real. Because I believe Christ is who He says He is, I also believe His promise of eternal life. I do not mean that simply believing God exists automatically means that I am saved. Rather, I see it as an all-or-nothing belief. If I truly believe that Christ is real and that He is who He says He is, then I also trust Him, His teachings, and His promise of salvation through Him.
