Before Jesus Changed My Life
I used to be a partier, always looking out for my own self-interest. I relied on alcohol and so-called ‘friends’ to meet my needs. In the same year, I lost both a friend and my cousin to suicide, and instead of turning to God for help, I turned to friends and alcohol to cope with the loss of those close to me.
How Jesus Changed My Life
Jesus changed my life by leading me to look to Him for fulfillment instead of relying on worldly things. I live by James 4:8, ‘Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you,’ and Philippians 4:13, ‘I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.’ These verses remind me daily that I can do nothing without God. I have come to embrace the good news of the Bible, which is that God sent His one and only Son because, even though we are separated from God because of our sins, we can be forgiven and restored back to God through Jesus Christ’s death on the cross. A clear scripture reference for the Gospel is John 3:16: “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
My Life After Jesus Saved Me
I’m a true believer in Christ, and my hope is in Jesus. Hebrews 6:19 says, ‘We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure,’ and that’s something I hold onto. No matter what season I’m in—good or bad—I know God is with me. He’s faithful, and He keeps His promises. Because of John 3:16, I know I have eternal life through Jesus.
